Note that I'm using bitlbee as a client, I can't receive files, fancy smiley, shaking of my window, voice, cam or any other useless things. But we can use it to talk (you know, the main feature of IMs ?).

Morel "bleader" David
--------------------

26 years old
Living in France, Boulogne near Paris

I am currently working for 6WIND as a R&D engineer.

Interest:
---------

Computer science of course including :
- coding (mostly C and C++, but also some perl, python, php and shell scripting)
- Unixes and the likes, installing configuring, learning new OSes, I've mostly used linux with experiences on slackware, archlinux, ubuntu and debian, but also FreeBSD and NetBSD.
- Sys-admining, of course along with unixes I've spent some time installing and configuring OSes, installing webserver, databases, mail server and some other things from time to time, most of the services here at ratonland are running on my boxes at home.
- Gaming, not only playing, I've made two games in my second year at Epitech m00h and DoobleShoot. They are on the Projects page of course. In addition to them I've got some neat idea I hope to realize someday.
- Irc, that's by far my favorite medium of communication over anything else (including phone, mail or whatever), and I use it on a daily basis.

Science:
- Thermal and cooling systems
- Heat dissipation

I also read book and various documents about physics, and I'm very curious about how things work, and why they are the way they are.

Music:
- Listening of lot of music, and a lot of style, I tend to listen to more metal than anything else, but I'm kind of open minded toward classical, reggae, and more... I also like to listen to movies or games soundtracks.
- Playing, or more accuratly trying to play. I play some guitar, by myself with some tabs, no courses, it's just for fun. Being able to have some fun when I get my hands on a guitar.

Reading:
I'm not a big reader, I mostly read on the train on my way to/frome Paris, or in summer when I can't get my hands on a computer. Anyway there are some writers I really like:
- Terry Pratchett (/me bows before the King). My computers are named after characters or places of Discworld.
- Anne Rice, mostly the vampires serie.
- Allan Edgar Poe for the ambiant darkness he's able to create with his words.

Knowledge:
----------
coding languages:
- C and C++
- perl
- python
- php
- shell scripting

systems:
I mainly worked on x86 and PowerPC, but some project we did at school where also working on sparc64 and ia64. I do own an alpha, a sparc, a MIPS, and also an ARM9 in the nintendo DS, still I've unfortunatelly never had time to learn the inner working of all of them.
Here is a small list of the system with the operating systems I've been working on for these systems:
- x86 running Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD
- PowerPC running VxWorks
- sparc64 running Solaris
- MIPS running NetBSD
- Alpha running Linux
- ia64 running HP-UX
- ARM running DS Linux

More
----
My main interest is in system development, close to system, needing to understand the inner working. Ideally drivers, kernel development or libraries. I hope to keep learning in this area.

At school I had to work on some various part of different projects, here is a little summary:
- file management for a web server written in C++.
- processus control on sparc64 and ia64 (respectively running Solaris and HP-UX), for a function call tracer.
- DWARF2 debugging symbols, reading and storing the information to let the tracer know which function is called.
- file management for an antivirus library, written in C this time.

Following the DWARF2 debugging symbols understanding, I wrote a small document in here to try to explain what I managed to understand from the documentation to help people that may need to use them later on. This document is available here.

At this time I actually did 3 internships:
- Mekensleep, where I worked on Soul Bubble's sound engine.
- Hydravision, where I worked on Alone In The Dark 5 PS2 Demo. (I have no clue if the demo went out and if any of my work was actually used).
- Wimax Communication Ltd. where I worked on a Wimax system, including driver, embedded system integration, and more.

For my current job, I'm mostly working on linux, either kernel or user land application depending on the project.
